Knife-Wielding Airplane Hijackers No Problem For Passengers

Here’s what really happens when someone tries to hijack a commercial airplane armed only with a knife:

Hijacker overpowered by flight crew

25th April 2011

Alitalia flight crew were forced to overpower a man who pulled a knife on their passenger flight and tried to divert it to Libya.

As 131 passengers looked on in terror, the would-be hijacker held a knife to the throat of an air-stewardess and ordered the Paris to Rome flight diverted to Tripoli.

‘The man grabbed the stewardess from behind her back and pointed the knife. She was in difficulty and tried to turn around,’ a passenger named Sofia told reporters.Stefanie, a French woman who lives in Italy, said the man laughed when the stewardess asked him to go the front of the plane with her.

‘He held her for just a few minutes and then the other flight attendants intervened and passengers helped hold the man to the floor,’ she said.

After the would-be hijacker was subdued the plane landed safely at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport, where he was held.

Nevertheless, we were asked to believe that, in a similar situation on board four commercial flights in the USA on September 11th 2001, the passengers and crew were unable to do anything to stop a few alleged terrorists equipped with razor blades taped to credit cards. Said terrorists then went on to demolish two massive skyscrapers, punch a hole in the Pentagon and  kill almost 3,000 people. Even more unbelievably, the 9/11 passengers’ intransigence has since led to the invasion and occupation of at least two countries, the deaths of millions of civilians, and the destruction of civil liberties the world over.
Those are some pretty powerful terrorists, eh?

  1. Before 9/11, most passengers would think that they would be kept alive as hostages rather than killed . But now, I don't think many passengers would think twice about trying their luck in the face of the (possible) alternative. Especially against just one man!

    1. Most hijackings have involved hijackers armed with guns. The 9/11 hijackers, we are told, had razor blades taped to credit cards. It beggars belief to suggest that, armed with such "weapons", anyone could have taken over those planes and not met with resistance, or that such resistance would not have had a very good chance of success, as in the case of the recent Al Italia flight.

  2. Thanks for posting this article. I am definitely tired of d relevant and intelligent commentary on this subject. Everyone nowadays seem to go to extremes to either drive home their viewpoint or suggest that everybody else in the globe is wrong. Thanks for your concise and relevant insight
