The ‘Kony 2012’ Delusion

KONY 2012The people behind this campaign are MASSIVELY misguided. Or it’s a CIA-sponsored psy-ops.

Take for example the fact that one of the 12 ‘policy makers’ (US politicians) that they are targeting to help them ensure Joseph Kony is arrested is George ‘Dubya’ Bush. The puppet president who presided over the murder of 1.5 million Iraqi civilians. And we’re all meant to believe that people like him are going to care about the plight of Ugandan children? Kony is Bush’s ideological brother for god’s sake.

Other than their complete ignorance of the fact that the US political elite is populated by the world’s worst war criminals, the makers of this video are also massively ignorant of the truth about WHY Uganda, and many other African nations, are subjected to the brutal excesses of war lords and have been for so many decades.

To cut a very long and complex story short, people like Joseph Kony (who, by the way, is no longer a real threat to the people of Uganda) and so many other African tin-pot dictators are the product of long-term US (CIA), British, Israeli and French interference in African nations.

Joseph Kony leads the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). In 2010, the LRA crossed into Darfur in Sudan and since then have been enjoying the protection of the Sudanese military, and Sudan’s notorious president, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who has been a longtime LRA patron. al-Bashir  is accused by the International Criminal Court of war crimes and genocide in Darfur. It should come as no surprise then that the CIA has long-standing and close ties with al-Bashir and Sudanese intelligence services.

So there you have it. The principal financier and protector of the Joseph Kony and the LRA is a genocidal dictator who is supported by the US government via the CIA. That’s just one degree of separation between the CIA and the LRA. Yet the ‘Kony 2012’ people believe they can lobby the US government to do something about Kony and the LRA!

The aim of the US (and other) governments has always been to destabilize African nations in order place into power any individual that would be amenable to the theft by US corporations of the resources of African nations. This destabilization process, which includes the massive and repeated provision of weapons to the war lords and thugs, inevitably leads to the killing and maiming of thousands of civilians. And it continues to this day.

Elliot Ross of the  Africa is a country blog sums up the problem with ‘Kony 2012’:

“To ask people to climb down from the soaring heights of “Kony 2012”, a place where they get to feel both sanctified and superior, and truly descend into the mire of history and confusion is simply too big a task. It would be boring and difficult and it would not be about Facebook or Angelina Jolie or coloured wristbands or me. When the euphoria evaporates and the Twittersphere has dried its tears (probably by the end of this week), all that remains will be yet another powerful myth of African degradation.”

In short, forget about ‘Kony 2012’. World peace starts at home, not in an African nation controlled by Western governments. If you really want to make this world a better place, let’s start ‘Bush, Blair, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Obama etc., 2012’. Let’s make them famous for their massive war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, for the murder of up to 2 million Iraqi and Afghan civilians, and for the the children who continue, to this day, to be blown to pieces by US soldiers and US ‘drone’ aircraft under the Imperial war of aggression known as the ‘war on terror’.

  1. komrad, im taking this one to translate it to the dutch language. i'll place it on my blog too, with your source at both of them of course 😉

    kind regards.

  2. yes. when i watched the video of 'kony 2012', i felt proper wrong inside. you have helped me understand why. thank you.

  3. Brilliant. I wrote an article early this morning that points out every genius marketing ploy used in the making of the "Kony 2012" video. Unfortunately, there is far more going on here than a "misguided attempt" by bleeding heart hipsters to change the world. What is really happening is a well orchestrated advertising campaign for $225 worth of t-shirts, posters and a Feng Shui – Kaballah hybrid slacktavist bracelet that lets semi socially conscious teens feel like they're making a difference. To put in quite simply, the makers of this video hit a 9 on the douchebag scale of 1 to Bono.

  4. Dear bloggers,

It is nice to weigh the pro's and cons of this campaign but when I saw this Kony video I felt a surgent urge to participate and do somthing. I do not think that this campaign is all about the money. I think this commercial is made to show how strong the internet and social media is now a days. That one promise resultes in this hype is a rare and a positive thing, don't you agree?

    1. That ‘instant surge to participate’ that you felt is fine E.W, just so long as you don’t totally forsake your intellect for a feeling. Do a little research. I did, and all is not as it seems.

  5. "very well said Joe. I saw many different people sharing this video recently and so I checked it out and you took the words right out of my mouth…. Uganda and other African countries would not be in the mess they're in if it wasn't for all those western countries and the psychopaths who run them. It's like come on.. get some perspective people!"

  7. Great insight, I always find it a little ridiculous when these things go viral and overnight everyone is an expert on the topic. This was very refreshing and what I needed to hear. First time reader btw, probably not the last now…

  8. Read 'The History of the CIA, Legacy of Ashes' for more detail on the destruction sewn by the US in Africa and the rest of the world. The US either directly put Kony in the position he's in or created the environment for him to take power. The trouble is, once we put people like that in power we have very little ability to control them. It's been happening with every president since Eisenhower. I agree, let's see a video about the US war criminals, Kissinger is still wanted by several South American countries, let's see a video about his crimes.

  9. bollocks. The world is global and it's due in large part to becoming a technologically advanced network society, not some absurd conspiracy theory or plot. We are local to the planet. America is not the centre of the universe, nor is any other country.

    1. You're absolutely right, TajiPercipere, America is not the centre of the Universe or of our globe. The American government just wants it to be.
The United States is a country built by Freemasons (including Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America) and the US is the first real Freemasonic nation on our planet. This is a fact that most people are not aware of.
It's a nation run entirely on profit (take a look at the Pharmaceutical industry and how its run) and War is a very profitable business to a government.
The people of NA are finally becoming educated on all these seemingly separate and yet in reality very intricately connected issues and are opening their eyes to the reality of what our World has become in the 21st century.
The NA government is acutely aware that these changes are happening within their nation, and they're also very aware of the fact that those in power can be overthrown when the masses stand together for what they believe in (recent examples in Egypt, Lybia). As such, they can no longer force war on the masses. So what do you do when you want something you know the people of the country you run will not stand behind?
You make them think it's their OWN IDEA!
      … Brilliant marketing, isn't it?

The way I see it is this. The US government wants to have military presence in Africa due to Asia's current expansion into the continent. They know the people will not stand for another war that is pushed on them by their government. In order to remain in power, the government needs the masses to 'want' the military presence there in the first place. How is this accomplished? The Kony campaign is in front of you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm completely against crimes against humanity including the torture, murder and rape of all people and especially so helpless, voiceless children. However I must point this out and agree with LORD_RM that it's "a little ridiculous when these things go viral and overnight everyone is an expert on the topic." No one stops to bother asking why these things are happening, why now, why at such a rate? Why does the US government all of a sudden care about children in Africa when it effectively executed millions of Afghani women and children?

Open your eyes. Ask questions. Be informed.

      1. This is for sure a way to start. Because now people are asking, talking about it, informing themselves… I keep saying it. This is BIGGER than KONY…

  10. The organization 'invisible children' is a scam, I agree with you on that, only 31% of the money donated actually goes to the cause, and as a 'non-profit' the posted $4 million in profits last year, definitely a false charity. But to say we shouldn't have invaded Iraq is a misguided comment, as a marine that toured there multiple times I myself and multiple fellow fighters will tell you that our presence there was almost always welcome. The people there lived in complete terrible fear of their own government and armed forces, the very people that should make them feel safe. Civilian casualties are a terrible tragedy no doubt, but show me a war there were none, you'll have a hard time finding that cause there are none. Sure we didn't end finding the WMD's like we originally thought, but that doesn't change the fact that there was a terrible, murdering tyrant there that endangered the safety of his people and other nations a like. He needed to be removed, as Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

  11. Blair, Bush and the rest ARE already famous…
At home nobody knew KONY until last week.
This is an experiment (it says in the video) to see if by using social media there is enough pressure to catch these criminals. If it works, then maybe Bush and Blair and the rest will follow.
Uganda, Bush, KONY… Everyone is missing the point. This is way bigger than KONY… and it sure beats the hell out of doing nothing and watch TV at home.

  12. I’m glad that I’m not alone here. I was a bit perturbed when I saw the high level of Suzy sunshine nonsense on the video. It appeared to be a complete marketing campaign. I have to admit I felt emotional towards the suffering imagery but was and am disturbed at the “time frame” and how they want to make Kony famous overnight. I wish that same effort was used to protect the people and their resources from the corrupted real devils. Thanks for your post.
